Allen lands original script nod for 'Paris'

'Midnight in Paris'Here's a whimsical ending not even Woody Allen would've written: him winning a fourth Oscar more than 20 years on.Allen took the best original screenplay for "Midnight in Paris'" at Sunday's Academy Awards, adding to three previous wins.The most recent was more than two decades ago, as the writer-director nabbed original screenplay for "Hannah and her Sisters" in 1987. 'Karateka' to become remade for consoles

Mechner Karateka began around the Apple II before moving to Atari along with other systems. Dimension taps scribe for 'Short Circuit' reboot

Dimension Films has drawn on Matt Lieberman to create a reimagining of "Short Circuit," which is directed by Tim Hill ("Hop"). Hill will supervise the brand new take, the particulars which remain under systems. Original 1986 family film adopted Johnny Five, an experimental military robot that evolves intelligence and self-awareness after being struck by lightning. With the aid of a troubled youthful boy, the robot attempts to evade capture and convince his creator that he's truly alive. Dimension optioned the remake privileges in '09, although the project languished until Hill signed onto direct in August. David Promote, who created the initial, is creating with Ryan E. Heppe, John Hyde and John Manis. Production is skedded for that finish of the season, with Dimension thinking of getting a release next summer time.
