Song length isn't consistent in Windows Movie Maker?

So I'm making a video and I picked my song and everything. I inserted
the song into the audio section fine. Everything's fine and dandy.
However, the song length keeps changing on me. I'll play it for 10
seconds, pause it, go to another window, come back to it, hit play
again, and it'll start back to where it was five seconds ago. That
sounds a little confusing.
Basically, no matter how much I try to shorten it by dragging it to
the left, the song length never stays consistent. Does anyone know how
to fix this? Or can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I sound
like I'm on crack right now?
I'll give you an example. Let's say the song is twinkle, twinkle
little star.
I'll play it. "Twinkle twinkle, little star, how I wonder...." Pause
it right there. I'll press play again, and it'll start back to "Little
star, how I wonder..."
See, this wouldn't be a big problem but it actually keeps screwing up
my ending time. Sometimes it ends too early, and sometimes the song
gets cut off at the end.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Thanks!
